MOMENTS FROM MAY

Hello, how are you all feeling? I hope May has been a good month for you. I am very much enjoying the lighter evenings and the hint of summer round the corner!

Three things that I have loved this May

Benson Boone – I’ve had his album Fireworks & Rollerblades on repeat all month 🫶🏻

Mental Health Awareness Week – May was Mental Health Awareness Week and Month

It is so important to share and highlight this every year, even if it helps just one person and to help to stop the stigma relating to mental health. This month’s theme from the Mental Health Foundation was taking moments for movement.

Yoga is something which I have found really beneficial to supporting my mental health. I often spend just 15-20 mins a day doing a few movements and focusing on my breath. It just gives me a little space to help switch my racing thoughts or notice what my body needs (as someone who struggles with Anxiety I often hold lots of tension in my body which in turn then affects my mind, yoga really helps me to release this and bring me into the present). I also love weight training at the gym to switch off and be in that moment, not only supporting me physically but mentally too 🙂

There is so much scientific research out there which shows the beneficial effects that movement has on our mental health and wellbeing.

I have always been quite an active person but I never thought I would enjoy the activities I do, once I tried them I fell in love with them and these movements have become part of my tools for coping with my mental health and supporting my wellbeing.

Don’t be afraid to try something and find a movement that works for you. Remember an achievement for you is so individual, if you are struggling with your mental health it may be just a short walk that feels right for you. We are all unique in our needs and finding what movement brings you support or joy is part of the process. Sport England ‘Get Moving’ is a great place to start if you are looking for some accessible and fun ways to find movement – https://www.sportengland.org/get-moving

I also highly recommend visiting Mind and the Mental Health Foundation for many great resources, knowledge and support from these wonderful organisations.

Tennis Vibes – As June is approaching I always get excited at this time knowing Wimbledon is right around the corner (strawberries and cream incoming 🍓🎾!!) and I am really loving the court-ready tennis chic styles from Varley and Sweaty Betty.

A couple of my top pics from Varley are the Jane Court Dress 28”, Dorset Relaxed Knit Cardigan and Clarendon High-Rise Skort 16”
